Along with plumbing and HVAC work comes a large number and variety of tools. With a lot of tools to keep track of, it was hard at times to find the right tools I needed for a job I was working on. I had some organizational cabinets, but they were hard to manage and some tools would jam the drawers so it was hard to get them open. Some tools store well in drawers, but many of my tools just needed a different type of space.
I decided to make a change and I have found this to be the best solution for me. To start out, I bought some peg board and cut it so it would fit on one of the walls in our garage. Then I started to hang it, using a drill and some screws to secure it to the wall. Along with the screws, I used anchors inside the wall to make sure the pegboard was securely attached. Once it was all installed, I bought some hooks and other pegboard hangers so I could start organizing.
After hanging many tools, rearranging, and organizing I had my tools in the spots that I wanted them to be in. To make sure that the tools were put back in their rightful place, I bought a handheld label maker. I was able to print out labels for each of my tools and stick them on the wall where the corresponding tool was to be stored.
Once done, I had my family come out so I could give them the “ place for everything, and everything in its place” lecture. Since I have installed this new organizational system, looking for tools no longer takes up more time than getting the job done! For more ideas click here.
